Welcome to MOAA Charities!
Welcome to the MOAA Charities Application site, where you can apply for the Education Assistance Program, Community Outreach Grant Program, or the Crisis Relief Program.
Education Assistance Program
Students apply for the Education Assistance Program through a single, streamlined application process. The application includes questions about the student’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities, military affiliation, and financial background. Additionally, applicants are invited to share their post-graduation plans and college aspirations through an essay question.
Unlike traditional programs where students apply for specific funding types, our approach allows us to match each student with the most suitable funding opportunities based on their eligibility. This way, students won’t miss out on any funding opportunities they’re qualified for.
To participate in the Education Assistance Program, students must submit an application during the November 1 - March 1 window. Our program has two applications: New Student Applications and Renewing Student Applications. Once a student is accepted into the program and receives funding, they have the opportunity to reapply for funding each year of their undergraduate studies. Students who have previously applied for the Education Assistance Program AND have received program funds are considered renewing students.
All students who accept funding from our program are required to submit a thank you letter to thank our Board of Directors and/or the generous donor who made their award possible. Detailed instructions will be provided when it is time to complete this step.
The Community Outreach Grant Program
The MOAA Charities Community Outreach program provides grants to MOAA councils and chapters delivering direct assistance to military families in their local communities in nine areas of critical military and veteran family need. A number of MOAA councils and chapters nationwide are engaged in this type of very real, high-impact, community work. Financial assistance is provided to military families and veterans of all ranks. MOAA has 400+ councils and chapters in 50 states. This program is supported by corporate, foundation and public donations.
The Crisis Relief Program
In April 2020, The MOAA Foundation launched an emergency COVID-19 Relief Fund to support military families impacted by the pandemic. Thanks to the support of more than 2,000 benevolent donors from around the world, we provided tens of thousands of dollars in individual emergency relief grants and MOAA council and chapter grants. As the pandemic has ebbed, however, crisis-related needs of military families and veterans still exist.
The MOAA Foundation Crisis Relief program— launched in Spring 2022- is an enduring emergency relief program to assist uniformed services personnel, veterans, and their families in the midst of crisis.
